Jesolo, Trieste, Krk
In the morning we hung out on the beach for awhile. Eva was hoping to rent a pedal boat, but was unsuccesful. We also tried to rent a Vespa, but the rental place was closed for the typical 3 hour European lunch so no luck there either. The 3 hour lunch also caused us to leave town late because we had dropped off film at a 1-Hour Photo shop but didn't return until lunch had just started. Oops. By mid-afternoon we were heading east towards Slovenia.

After dinner we were soon at the border of Italy and Slovenia (where I got caught trying to sneak across the border, but that's another story) and then in the blink of an eye we were out of Slovenia and into Croatia. It was very late (as usual) when we crossed the long bridge and finally found our hotel in Krk (we were in the village Krk on the island of Krk).
I was surprised to see how many young people were out dressed up for the weekend when we arrived. Sure, it was Saturday night ...but this island was hardly populated at all and all of the villages we had passed were very small. Yet right here next to the marina there were a couple of nightclubs sporting medium-sized crowds, there was even a discotheque (complete with colored lights and lipstick lesbians) built into the old castle walls. We were pretty worn out though, and did not stay out long at all.
Ha ha, I love that slogan. I pinched it from a Croation tourism web site. |
